E-Waves Fishbyte Deep Sea Night Fishing Competition 2009

On the afternoon of the 17th of October, we arrived at Buroh Lane to begin preparations for the competition.

Soon, participants began to arrive, and we got busy with registration.

All pumped for the competition ;)

And... We're off!

Tired from the day's work, the organizers went home for a rest.

The next day, we arrived as dawn was breaking to prepare for the return of the competitors.

It was a beautiful morning :)

So many sponsored rods and reels to be given away later, thanks to Daiwa and TCE Sports!

Before long, boats started coming in.

This was one of the first catches to be brought in by a participant, Mr. Richard Li.

It weighed-in at a whopping 12kg!

Then, it was time to gather round for the prize-giving ceremony and prize presentation!

The first prize went to Mr. Richard Li with his catch of 12 kg!
The second prize winner was Mr. Moses Chew with his catch weighing in at 11kg.
The third prize went to Mr. Muhammad Amin for his catch of weight 8kg.

Congratulations!

So many rods and reels to be given away! (Well, 30 of each, to be exact :])

The tide was coming in quickly and all too soon, it was time for us to disperse.

As you should know, today's the day of our very first night fishing competition! Before the boats set out later, though, we first have some great news to announce...

E-Waves Fishbyte is now the Singapore record holder for organizing the most large-scale fishing competition, with a total of 122 participants on 18 boats!

Night Fishing Competition & Daiwa i-Fishing Shop Update

We are pleased to announce that we have sold out all the tickets for our upcoming Deep Sea Night Fishing Competition, with a total of 121 participants on 18 boats!
The competition will be held this Saturday, 17th October 2009 at Buroh Lane and will go on till Sunday morning.

Also, if you happen to have some free time on your hands, feel free to drop by at our newly-opened Daiwa i-Fishing concept shop to hang out at our chatting corner! You can watch some fishing videos while exchanging the latest gossip or sharing some fishing tips with your fellow anglers!

Longer opening hours!

Starting from October 1st (which was yesterday!), E-waves Fishbyte is extending it's opening hours on Mondays - Thursdays by an hour!

That means instead of closing at 7.30pm, we will now close shop at 8.30pm instead, so you have more time to browse if you decide to drop by after work!

Due to the overwhelming response of participants, we are pleased to announce that we have sold out ALL tickets for boats with toilet facilities!

Not to worry, we still have tickets for sale at $80/pax for boats without the toilet facility (fibre boats). So, if you're still up and raring for the game (and probably have a relatively healthy bladder, haha!), come and grab your tickets now!

Here are the details for the E-waves Fishbyte Night Fishing Competition 2009!

Date: 17th October 2009
Time: Assemble at ~~6pm~~**. Boats must arrive back at the starting point by 7.30am the next morning.
Venue: Starting point will be at ~~Penjuru Close~~*. After setting off, participants are free to fish anywhere they want, as long as it is within Singapore waters.
Tickets: $80 per person including insurance. Please note that no bait will be provided, so be sure to bring your own on that day!

Attractive prizes will be given away, thanks to our sponsor, Daiwa, according to the weight of your catches!
First prize: $500 and Daiwa fishing accessories
Second prize: $300 and Daiwa fishing accessories
Third prize: $200 and Daiwa fishing reels and accessories

There will also be a lucky draw with attractive prizes to give away!

The event will be co-organized by the Ayer Rajah- West Coast CCMC and NC.

Details are tentative and may be subject to change.

The morning of the competition dawned bright and sunny. It was definitely good weather for fishing! (:

Soon enough, excited fishermen started pouring in to register themselves and to drop their ticket stubs in for the lucky draw at the end of the day.

All ready to set off!

Time flies when you're having fun, and soon people were arriving back at the Club to have their catches of the day weighed and evaluated!

There was a bout of bad weather around the time the boats were due back at the club, but even that couldn't dampen everyone's spirits - we simply got out our umbrellas and raincoats and got on with the show!

11.3kg? Whoa, that's a big one!

Look, the E-waves organizing team's got a catch! And quite a big one, too, at 3.5kg! Too bad we can't get any prizes :(

"Wait for me!"

This participant came in just in the nick of time with his 8.9kg catch that ultimately won him 2nd place in the competition!

West Coast Offshore Fishing Competition

E-waves Fishbyte is organizing a deep sea fishing competition for all fishing kakis out there!

We hope that through this fishing competiton, we will be able to forge closer bonds amongst the anglers staying in Singapore (particularly the West side), and we also hope to promote deep sea fishing as a leisure sport for everyone!

In addition, knowledge of marine fishes that can be found in the waters for Singapore can also be exchanged among competitors! That's good, isn't it? At least you will be able to know what type of fish you're having for dinner... haha!

Lastly, we hope to raise awareness of the marine environment in Singapore, especially in the vicinity of the Southern Islands.

Details of Competition

Date: 15th March 2009

Time: 0830 hrs - 1630 hrs

Venue: Singapore's Southern Islands

Start and End Point: Republic of Singapore Yacht Club

CLOSING DATE FOR COMPETITION IS THE 7TH OF MARCH 2009!

Registration

Now that you know what's in store for you, how do you go about registering yourself for this great day of fun? Here's how!

1.Registration can be done by individuals or by boats

2. Individual participants will be assigned a boat provided by organizer on a first-come-first-serve basis.

3. For registration by boat - Only boat owners are allowed to register for the competition. **

4. The organizer expects to provide 12 boats for individual participants. There will be 6 participants per boat. Places are limited (6x1 equals to? you know the answer!), so book your seats now!

5. For boats registered under boat category, number of participants in the boat will be at the boat owner’s discretion but only 6 tickets for the lucky draw will be issued to each boat.

Rules and Regulations

1. Each participant shall bring his or her own fishing gear.

2. Only fishing rods with reels or hand lines are allowed.

3. No traps, nets, spear gun or any other fishing equipment other than those specified in the above are allowed in the competition.

4. Boat owners are to observe all “rules of road” at sea and to comply with all rules set by the MPA regarding the restricted and prohibited areas in southern islands. Organizer shall not be responsible for any consequences resulted from the breaching of law committed by the boat during competition.

5. The organizer shall not be responsible for any injury, loss or damage of any kind sustained by any person while participating in the competition.

6. Each participant shall bring along his or her own drinks and food for the competition.

7. All boats must report at around the lay-by berth at the venue for collection of the baits before 0830 hours on the competition day. The competition will begin at 0830hrs with a ‘flag-off‘ by the club official.

8. The organizer will have a patrol boat going around the southern islands to observe the participating boats.

9. All participating boats are expected to return to the venue by 1630 hours.

10. The organizer will be at the lay-by berth at 1630 hours with a scale to weigh the fishes caught by the participants during the competition period. A special committee would be invited to witness the weighing ceremony. **

11. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners will be decided on the heaviest, the 2nd heaviest and the 3rd heaviest fish caught respectively.

12. The decision of the organizer is final.

13. The guest of honor will give away the prizes to the winners at 1700 hours.

Participation Fees

1. S$90 for each individual participant, S$ 150 for each boat registered

2. Each individual participant will be issued with a ticket for lucky draw. 6 tickets will be issued to every boat registered for the competition.

3. The organizer will provide each boat with 1.5 kg of live prawn as baits. Participants who wish to use other types of baits can bring them to the competition at their own cost
